Understanding Laser therapy for vaginal rejuvenation
We understand that the technical side of laser therapy can be confusing, which is why your doctors are here to help
One of the most prevalent uses of laser therapy is also one of the most discreet. Vaginal laser rejuvenation using Er:YAG technology is performed by an experienced doctor, with an advanced laser-beam delivery system. Our system is a narrow cylindrical applicator known as a smooth mode Er:YAG laser which is non-ablative. This applies laser energy at 360° for rapid and even treatment of the mucosa which shrinks and tightens the vagina. This is the first stage of treatment and after this the second stage will involve the laser being applied to the vestibule and introitus.
Both of these phases will thoroughly heat the area with multiple applications of laser light. This will induce collagen shrinkage and collagen synthesis (creation) which is responsible for keeping tissue taut. This is the same function and principle used in laser application of the face for anti-ageing in order to keep the skin tight and reduce wrinkles.
Is the procedure comfortable?
During the first stage of treatment a protective outer-casing will be used on the hand piece – or laser applicator. This is called a circular adaptor and it will enable the laser to treat the area without physically touching the mucosa with the instrument. This means that the procedure will be relatively comfortable without direct contact. Laser treatments are also non-invasive and non-surgical which means that you will not require any stitching or incisions, unlike other procedures.
