Urinary incontinence is another word for LBL (light bladder leakage).
This condition is very common in women aged over 35 in Australia, and 1 in 3 women suffer from it. Although many women think LBL is embarrassing it’s important to remember that you are far from alone. Appropriately skilled medical professionals, such as your doctors at Hunter Laser Centre, can help you feel confident with your bladder once again.
We strengthen the pelvic floor muscles to support your bladder
Here at Hunter Laser Centre in Newcastle we use the IncontiLase™ laser to tighten the mucosal tissue and improve function of pelvic floor muscles. These muscles and tissue are responsible for supporting the bladder and improving bladder control. The procedure itself will involve applying laser to the vaginal wall, urethral orifice and vestibule area. These all work together to decrease different types of incontinence including:
- Stress incontinence
- LBL due to childbirth (which is more common the more children you have)
- Incontinence due to weak pelvic floor muscles
- Incontinence due to atrophy (vaginal ageing)
Our laser achieves exceptional results
The IncontiLase™ was developed in Europe and is rapidly growing in popularity. It is new to Australia, and Hunter Laser Centre is one of only a few clinics offering this procedure. The IncontiLase™ laser is a safe and less invasive alternative to surgery and provides effective relief from LBL. Its many benefits include:
- Non-surgical and incisionless technology
- It often only requires three treatments
- It’s a walk in and walk out procedure
- Little to no downtime
- No antibiotics or medications required afterwards
Most patients who undergo the IncontiLase™ procedure are dry after 120 days following the procedure and 94% of patients experience some improvement. The laser itself utilises Er:YAG technology which is a non-ablative laser responsible for shrinking and tightening the tissue in the vaginal and vestibular areas, providing better support for your bladder.
Before the initial consultation
We ask that you completely empty your bladder 1 hour before your consultation. Over the next hour please drink 1 litre of water (in order to refill your bladder). It is important that your bladder is full when you arrive for your appointment. Your doctor will perform a comprehensive analysis of your incontinence and recommend the best treatment and time frame.
To find out more about what’s expected after the procedure see our aftercare instructions.
The doctors and female nurses at Hunter Laser Centre can assure you that there’s nothing to be embarrassed or fearful about when visiting us for an appointment. We encourage you to come see us and finally treat your LBL in the comfort of our clinic in Kotara, Newcastle.
