Vaginal Prolapse Treatment
The vagina is made up of tissue and pelvic muscles that create a delicate support structure.
When this support structure is compromised by childbirth or other conditions this can result in a disorder known as vaginal prolapse. Vaginal prolapse can occur in a number of ways where either the bladder, urethra, bowel or ‘vault’ collapses. Treatment for vaginal prolapse involves restoring the appearance of the vagina and then treating the internal wall of the vagina with an Er:YAG non-ablative laser procedure which will strengthen the vaginal tissue that contributes to support of the interior tissue and wall.
Vaginal prolapse can be treated at Hunter Laser Centre
Strong pelvic floor muscles and connective tissue both work together in order to maintain the shape of the vagina before and after childbirth. Maintaining the strength of these muscles gets even more important after childbirth as vaginal prolapse happens to approximately half of women who give birth. Sometimes referred to as a vaginal tightening procedure, our Er:YAG laser uses special technology to induce tightening of the vaginal wall by stimulating collagen production and healing any damage done to the fascia, ligaments or other muscular structures. This damage is what results in vaginal prolapse.
It’s important to know that damage to the collagen and muscles in the vaginal wall cannot be healed by physiotherapy and kegel exercises. These treatments are suited when the pelvic wall lacks strength and support, not when the support mechanism has been damaged due to trauma such as child birth. Stage 3 or Stage 4 of vaginal prolapse is not treatable by pelvic physiotherapy, so if you suffer from this we recommend visiting Hunter Laser Centre for a consultation.
As vaginal prolapse is common after child birth, so is opting to receive laser vaginal restoration. Our laser treatment can be used to treat vaginal prolapse, and we may recommend you visit a surgeon if your condition is very serious. The best way to know if you are a candidate for laser vaginal prolapse treatment is to visit our Kotara, Newcastle laser centre.
